CAN A BALL VALVE BE USED AS A CONTROL VALVE?

The most common type of valve available today is the ball valve if you have basic valve knowledge. Ball valves are typically quarter-turn valves with a perforated ball in the middle to control flow. Although these valves are known for their durability and excellent shutoff, they do not always provide very precise control. It's okay to use a ball valve as a control valve when there are certain conditions.

Due to their cost effectiveness, ball valves are still commonly used despite not being the best flow control device. An application that doesn't require precise control and adjustment can be handled by a ball valve. Ball valves, for example, should be able to maintain a given level within a few inches of a large tank. We are the leading ball valve manufacturer in India

When Choose your ball valve, you must take into account all the conditions of the process. It includes the material or product, the size of the pipe, the flow rate, etc. Ball valves may not be the best choice if you're trying to control an expensive material that you don't want to waste.

Due to their small adjustment range, ball valves do not provide very precise adjustments for large amounts of flow. It is also difficult to control precisely because there is a 'slop' or 'play' between the stem and the ball. Additionally, ball valves cannot be finely adjusted near their "closed" and "open" positions because of the torque needed to adjust them.

A globe valve will provide more accurate control over your application than a ball valve. Because globe valves are good at regulating flow, they are considered the industry standard for control valves. Ball valves are better for on/off control without causing pressure drops.

Depending on your application, you may want to consider different types of ball valves if you need to control your process with one. Some situations require a trunnion or v-port ball valve that performs better and can be adjusted more precisely.

There is an additional mechanical anchoring of the ball at the top and bottom of the trunnion ball valves. The ball and stem are connected by a splined or keyed stem connection that eliminates play. Ball valves with V-ports have a V-shaped ball rather than a round hole. With its tapered opening, this allows for more linear flow, which allows for more control.
