 GLOBE VALVE:


A Globe valve controls the flow of liquid or gas in a pipeline, it starts, controls, and regulates the flow. A globe valve is spherical, with movable discs and an unmovable ring seat, separated by an internal baffle, and with an opening to close it. Compared to other valves, globe valves exhibit high-pressure drops when the pressure drop through the valve is uncontrollable.


In a globe valve, when the handle wheel is rotated clockwise, the steam and valve plug will move downward and the pin will be located between the two valve seats, so there won't be any fluid leakage. As the handle wheel is rotated in the anti-clockwise direction, steam and the valve plug move upwards, allowing liquid to flow through the globe valve.


ADVANTAGES OF GLOBE VALVE:


  • Globe valves have a higher shutoff capability,

  • Their throttling capabilities are increased,

  • Maintenance is easy,

  • Gate valves have a longer stroke than globe valves,

BUTTERFLY VALVE:


Butterfly valves regulate the flow of liquids, allow for rapid shutoffs, and their mechanism is similar to that of ball valves.  There are two types of butterfly valves: flap valves and ball valves.


Butterfly valves consist of a circular disc with a stem in the middle offset. When the actuator is rotated, the disc turns either parallel or perpendicular, imparting pressure drops even when the disc is open.


The butterfly valve belongs to the quarter-turn valve family since the disc is rotated in a quarter-turn whether it is open or closed. By allowing a quarter turn, the disc on the rod blocks the passage, closing the valve. The butterfly disc is the main component of the valve.
